Welcome to 56 Ministry! This is home for 5th and 6th graders at The Woodlands Methodist Church. We strive to create a Christ-centered, safe and fun environment for students. Middle school kids are at such a transitional age, going from young children to teenagers. We want to help guide and shepherd our students to know Christ during this formative age. We gather each week in the Family Life Center for Sunday Service, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m., and Wednesday Bible Study, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. We would love to see you there!

Foundations in Personal Finance

Foundations in Personal Finance is designed to teach high school and college students about money management and wealth building. It is a one-week class. Daytime and evening sessions are available throughout the summer.

Volunteer

One of the best ways to meet people, develop relationships, and grow as a follower of Christ is to serve the local church. Serving opportunities are available seven days a week. Volunteers are the backbone of NextGen Kids and NextGen 56 Ministry.

Preschool/Elem 56/Confirmation

Confirmation

Incoming sixth graders are invited to join our Confirmation program, which prepares them to claim their faith in Jesus Christ. Church members are encouraged to volunteer as House Leaders.

Roots Bible Study

Wednesday night Bible study, called Roots, meets from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Each week, we have dinner, live worship, a lesson and small group time. This setting cultivates a closer relationship with Christ and further strengthens one’s faith.

Overview

We want to reach and teach your children in such a way that they have the greatest opportunity to become devoted followers of Jesus. In NextGen 56 Sunday school, your kids will worship, learn and have fun at their own level.

Volunteers are the backbone of NextGen 56 Ministry at The Woodlands Methodist Church. All of our volunteers go through a background check and a training process. We encourage our families to partner with us so that we are able to assist you in developing your child’s spiritual formation.

Meeting Format

Each age group meets in a large group for worship and the main lesson and then they break up into small groups for discussion and activities.

Children with Special Needs

We have Sunday school classes for children with special needs in preschool through sixth grade on the Main Campus and in the Loft Building.

Sunday Mornings

Sunday service for 5th and 6th grade is held in the Family Life Center at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. Each week, we prepare a faith-based game, live worship and a lesson for our students. Our goal as a ministry on Sunday mornings is to create a safe and Jesus-centered environment for students to thrive. We want students to build their relationships with God, forge a community with their peers, and have fun while doing so.

Roots Bible Study

Roots Supper Club

Confirmation (6th grade)

Confirmation is a big step in your child’s personal faith journey, preparing him or her for a life of discipleship and Christian service. Our confirmation program prepares your sixth grader to claim the Christian faith as his or her own. We typically have around 220 confirmands each year and celebrate 60 baptisms.

The confirmation journey follows the school year calendar, beginning in August and ending in May. Classes meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30 or 11:15 a.m. at the Family Life Center on The Woodlands Campus and 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. in the Gymnasium at the Woodforest Campus. Within a small group, your student will develop a spiritual foundation while building valuable relationships with the other students and the adult leaders of their group.

In addition to weekly classes, your student will participate in service projects within the church and our community, as well as have the opportunity to attend both a fall and spring retreat which includes parents.

Special Blessings

Special Blessings shares the love of Christ and serves children with special needs in preschool through sixth grade. Special Blessings Sunday school is offered at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. for students in Pre-K – 6th grade on the Main Campus and at the Loft Building. Additional worship, social and recreational opportunities are offered for Special Blessings students and their families throughout the year.
